June is an important month for military women. We will be celebrating Women Veterans Recognition Day on June 12. While in-person tickets are sold out, we have created a livestream link so that everyone can join in this fun-filled celebration of “us.”

June 25 is the 28th anniversary of the Memorial’s groundbreaking. It’s been fun reviewing pictures of the event. One can almost feel the sense of excitement of what was to come in every image. Recently, we touch base with Clark Construction members, the firm that dug that first hole and built our stunning Memorial that changed the “face” of monumental Washington.

There are several other dates in June that give us the opportunity to pause and reflect upon military women’s service to the nation, such as D-day on June 6, the Army’s 248th birthday on June 14, the launch of Operation Inherent Resolve against the Islamic State on June 15, and the start of the Korean War on June 25.

Thanks to each and every member of this community for allowing us to continue highlighting the stories of our many servicewomen, past and present. Your support is critical to our ongoing operations and mission to honor and tell the story of every woman who has served in our nation’s defense. Help us celebrate your accomplishments and theirs by registering your service and that of another servicewoman today.
