March is Women’s History Month! We invite you to MARCH WITH ME (MWM) as we celebrate women’s service and contributions to our nation.
At MWM for Women’s History Month 2025, we’re encouraging everyone to “March With Me” (MWM) by visiting the Military Women’s Memorial throughout the month. The theme is an obvious play on the Memorial’s abbreviation (MWM), as well as on the word “March” ― the month and the activity in which every military woman, past and present, has participated. To emphasize the theme, the gallery will be lined with historic photos of women marching – from World War I to the present. Also included will be a fun exhibit with marching memorabilia we all remember including a guidon, drill sergeant hat, boots, shoe polish and the like. If you are in the area, take time to visit – it is sure to stir a bit of nostalgia. The Memorial is open Monday – Saturday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Sunday, 12:00 – 5:00 PM.
Women’s History Month at the Military Women’s Memorial will kick-off March 2 with a special showing of the Netflix Tyler Perry film “The Six Triple Eight,” starring Kerry Washington as Major Charity Adams. The film is based on the true story of the only predominately all-Black Women’s Army Corps unit to deploy to the European Theatre of Operation during World War II and their impossible mission of clearing a 3-year backlog of mail of more than 17 million pieces. Stay tuned for more information and to reserve a seat. Visit the Events page of the Memorial website at womensmemorial.org, click on “Events” to learn more. Please note, the event is free and open to the public, however, guests MUST reserve a seat.
We will close Women’s History Month at the Military Women’s Memorial with a special performance on Sunday, March 30, by an ensemble from the extraordinary US Army Band “Pershing’s Own.” This specially curated performance will tell the story of the 404th Army Band, the 1944-1945, all Black, all female band. The event will feature readings from historic documents, including the women’s personal letters, as well as musical performances featuring songs from the era.
