MINDFUL MEMORIAL DAY 2023
March 1st, 2023 – Mindful Memorial Day 2023 officially begins on Sunday, May 21st, inside the Military Women’s Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery. Following a brief ceremony, volunteers will create and hang 7,025 yellow ribbons in remembrance of the fallen warriors who died post-9/11. The Fallen Warrior Ribbon Memorial will remain on display in the MWM Exhibit Gallery for the entire week preceding Memorial Day weekend.
On Saturday, May 27th, the official Mindful Memorial Day observance will begin with a ceremonial mindful moment of gratitude for volunteers at 8 AM, followed by an observation of the Fallen Warrior Ribbon Memorial Exhibit, highlighting the significance of the ribbons. With their consent, volunteers will help turn the ribbons into lanyards to be given to visitors and worn around the neck in honor and remembrance of these fallen heroes. Visitors can also request to wear the ribbon of specific warriors that are important to them.
In conjunction with the Fallen Warrior Ribbon Memorial, the Mindful Memorial Foundation staff and volunteers will also visit and offer gratitude to all post-9/11 fallen soldiers buried in Section 60 at Arlington National Cemetery over Memorial Day weekend. The Fallen Warrior Ribbon Memorial will last through Memorial Day. Click the link below to sign up and volunteer.
