Phyllis Wilson, MWM President

New Year. New Look. Same Legacy.

Having completed my first year as the President of the Women In Military Service For America Memorial Foundation, I can honestly say it has been a whirlwind. Throughout COVID-19, closures, and challenges, we have worked hard to care for each other, the Memorial, and the greater community. The staff have cheerfully rolled up their sleeves to do the hard work.

Last October, wcelebrated a New Year and a New Look for the 23rd Anniversary of the Military Women’s MemorialNow there is a new website, new logo, new database, and a National Registration Campaign. We need your help to achieve the ambitious goals of increasing national awareness and adding 100,000 more stories of military women to our Register. This is the ONLY historical repository that strives to document every military woman’s service. And we cannot do it alone.

I am excited for all the opportunities we have ahead of us at the Military Women’s Memorial – the place where America honors the 3,000,000 women who have served the nation from the American Revolution to today. The exterior of the Memorial has undergone several million dollars of structural repairs. We can now focus on the interior redesign! The visitor experience will be breathtaking. State of the art technology will immerse visitors in the history and stories of the service, courage and sacrifice of America’s military women. We also honor the women who’ve served sidebyside in the “We Also Served” organizations such as the American Red Cross, Special Services, Cadet Nurse Corps, WASP, USO and more.

As we look ahead to the 25th Anniversary of the Military Women’s Memorial in 2022, and the renovation followed by a Rededication Ceremony in 2023, you can rest assured that we will never waiver from our commitment of honoring all women who have served in, and with, the United States Armed Forces.

I hope you are as excited as I am for the future and trust you, too, are proud to celebrate the “New Year” and “New Look” with us.
