Women’s History Month Poster Contest

February 4 @ 8:00 am - March 15 @ 5:00 pm

Women's History Month 2025 Poster Competition. Military Women Rock. Military Women's Memorial

CELEBRATE WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH with the Military Women’s Memorial.

Calling all student artists! Celebrate military women’s history by showing us through your poster artwork how “Military Women Rock!”

Design a poster to celebrate Women’ History Month (March 2025) with a focus on military women, past or present, and their contributions to the nation. All posters must be in good taste.

• The competition is open to primary and secondary school-aged children (5-18 years old). All entries should be submitted on an individual basis (individual’s personal artwork, not group artwork). *However, this can be a class project in that every student completes a poster and the teacher submits the artwork for all of the students as a class.
• One poster per student.
• Entries must be received by the Military Women’s Memorial no later than March 15, 2025.

Inspiration & Ideas
• Do you know a military woman, past or present? Celebrate her by including her in your poster. Include on the front (or back) of the poster the military woman’s name, rank, service branch (for example: Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, Coast Guard), dates of service (if you know them), military occupation (if you know it).
• Incorporate military women and their many occupations in the military: air traffic controller, astronaut, chef, commander, diver, doctor, dog handler, logistician, pilot, engineer, mechanic, musician, military police, nurse, ship captain, etc.
• Research military women’s history and incorporate your findings into your poster. Not sure where to start? Seach any of the following terms: American Revolution Nurses, Hello Girls, WASPs (pilots), SPARs (Coast Guard), WAC (Army Corps), WAAC (Army), The Six Triple Eight (6888th)
• Utilize one of the Military Women’s Memorial lesson plans for inspiration. https://womensmemorial.org/collections-research/educational-resources/

GREAT CLASS PROJECT for Women’s History Month. Every student completes a poster, and the teacher submits the artwork for all of the students in the class. One option – incorporate Military Women’s Memorial LESSON PLANS into the classroom and have the students use the lesson plans as inspiration for their posters.
